"Little Walter," Tony! Toni! Toné (6/11/88)
Boy, this sure as hell didn't point towards what a funky band they'd eventually become. Raphael Saadiq sounds nice - when doesn't he? - but otherwise, this is mostly not-much-special '88 R&B by numbers. Not bad, just (you know it) a little dull. B-

Well-produced but largely soulless New Jack, thanks to producer Teddy Riley and co-writer/singer Kemp. Talkin' loud and sayin' nothing, really, and a track this hard(ish) deserved better. C
